Viewpoint: Small businesses are suffering in government contracting’s ‘Valley of Death’
The Number of small businesses providing services to the federal government has shrunk significantly over the last ten years.
The current procurement system in place prevents small businesses from becoming bigger businesses, creating a "Valley of Death" where they are prohibited from obtaining small business contracts once they reach a certain size. This has led to a significant decline in competition in the small business defense-industrial base, which poses a security threat.
