Today, after getting help from sbLiftOff through three years at the residential prep school St. Andrews Sewanee and now as a rising sophomore at Randolph Macon College in Virginia, Jalen is excelling at college level work. He will be the first in his family to go to college.

With help from sbLiftOff –

Jalen has volunteered as a counselor for a program run by the Episcopal Church of Maryland, Camp Imagination, which serves low income children from West Baltimore.

The free camp program takes inner city children to the country for summer activities and help with reading readiness.

I loved To Kill A Mockingbird. I just read A Thousand Splendid Suns about women in Afghanistan. I really liked it.

I really enjoy giving back.

We have been working with the Tillman family for four years. Jalen is doing incredibly well and we are excited to support him as he goes through college and makes his way to the world of work.

Jalen is getting his shot at the American dream

sbLiftOff will be accepting applications for the Young Scholar Award till March 15, 2021. Contact Nancy Langer at for more information.
